Looking for something a little different for your young people?

  • Location: Bwlch Hafod Einion, North Wales

This new programme will offer home-educated young people a unique opportunity to build teamwork skills, grow in confidence, learn from our incredible canine athletes, and take part in an exhilarating, hands-on outdoor activity unlike anything else in the UK.

OBJECTIVES

  • Introduce young people to sleddog sports activities; Canicross and Dryland Rig.
  • Increase participation in outdoor sports activities.
  • Improve confidence, team and leadership skills, physical fitness and well being.
  • Improve awareness of dog welfare and being responsible dog owners.

CONTENTS

  • Canine communication, behaviour & bonding
  • Managing high energy working dogs and being safe in Sleddog Sports
  • Learn to provide exceptional dog care and welfare
  • Exploring the 5 freedoms of animal welfare
  • Environmental awareness and maintaining safety outdoors
  • Agored Cymru Accredited Units available

1pm - 3pm on the following dates:

  • Session 1 - Wed 21 January 2026
  • Session 2 - Wed 4 February 2026
  • Session 3 - Wed 18 February 2026
  • Session 4 - Wed 4 March 2026
  • Session 5 - Wed 18 March 2026
  • Session 6 - Wed 15 April 2026
  • Fortnightly sessions - 2 hours a session. January to April 2026.
  • 10 places available for young people aged 11 - 16.
  • 6 sessions in total
  • £40 per child per 2hr session to be paid as agreed on a person by person basis.
  • Standing Order/Recurring invoice available if required
  • Accreditation incurs an extra cost (see below)

Wales Sleddog Sports Junior Academy is proud to offer young people the opportunity to achieve 2 accredited units awarded by Agored Cymru. Accredited learning is available for an additional cost and is delivered and assessed directly by our Instructors. There are no tests or exams, just learning with our super canine athletes.

  • Level 1 Unit in Sleddog Activities (3 credits = 1/4 GCSE). Progression route to -
  • Level 2 Unit in Sleddog Sports (5 credits = 1/2 GCSE)
