Welcome to our latest Newsletter
As the year draws to a close, we want to pause and say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Mynydd Sleddog Adventures this year. We may be a small, family-run business, but none of what we do would be possible without the kindness, encouragement and belief of our amazing community. Behind the scenes it’s just Joe, supported by a handful of fabulous people and dedicated volunteers, all juggling dogs, trails, admin and family life to keep everything moving.
Mynydd was born from two worlds coming together – years of working with young people in careers guidance, youth services and rehabilitation, alongside decades of racing and training sleddogs. This Christmas, as we reflect on the year gone by, we’re reminded that it’s not about size or numbers, but about impact: confidence growing, smiles appearing, and moments on the trail that stay with people long after the adventure ends. Thank you for being part of that journey with us.
So, as we wrap up the year, what have we been up to in 2025?
Here’s a look back at some of the moments that shaped our year on and off the trail.
We held our first summer camp!
This summer we ran our very first Dog Sports Adventure Camps, and they were everything we’d hoped for and more. Fourteen young people aged 9 to 16 joined us for an unforgettable few days of adventure, learning survival skills, building shelters, making fires, sleeping under the stars and forming new friendships. They tried a range of dog sports including mantrailing, barkour and canithiking, tackled challenging moorland terrain, and finished with the epic Canine Carnage Challenge, a fun, fast-paced test of teamwork, confidence and bravery for both humans and hounds. Add in campfires, marshmallows, laughter and very little sleep, and it was truly magical.
Inspired by the confidence, connection and joy we saw, we’re excited to be expanding our camps in 2026. We’ll be running multiple Junior Camps (ages 11–16) across North and South Wales, alongside the launch of our very first adults-only adventures, including a Women’s Adventure Camp and a mixed Adults Adventure Camp. We can’t wait to welcome back familiar faces and meet many new ones for another year of unforgettable adventures with our sleddogs.
Vindi joined the team!
Looking back to early summer, one of the highlights of the year was welcoming Vindi Walker Seven Mountains Husky to the Mynydd team. After yet another trip to Norway, something I’d sworn I wouldn’t do again, Vindi made the long journey with ease and quickly showed us just how special she is. A five-year-old Siberian Husky and niece to our boy Lyder, Vindi has competed in some of Norway’s most prestigious mid-distance races, including the Femundløpet, and we’re incredibly proud to have been entrusted with her. Since arriving in Wales she has settled beautifully into team life, throwing herself into forest hikes and adventures with boundless enthusiasm, soaking up attention from visitors and fitting right in alongside Cuillin, Qannik, Drake, Ghost, Buzz and the rest of the gang. Huge thanks to our friends at 7 Mountains Husky and Lovebrolet for trusting us with such a wonderful addition to the team.
Junior Academy in the news
Last week, we were incredibly proud to see the Welsh Sled Dog Academy featured on BBC Cymru, highlighting the dedication of our young people training here in North Wales and their ambitions to compete on the international stage, with hopes of qualifying for the European Championships in Sweden in 2026. The story celebrated not just the sport itself, but the teamwork, responsibility and strong bonds formed between handlers and dogs.
This national recognition was followed by Joe being interviewed on BBC Radio 5 Live, giving listeners across the UK a chance to hear about the academy and the impact it is having on young people. We’ve also welcomed a new intake into our beginners team this year, who have settled in brilliantly and are already growing in confidence and skill.
As we work towards making the Sweden trip possible, we are now seeking business sponsorship to support the team’s journey to the European Championships and would love to hear from any organisations interested in helping our young people represent Wales on an international stage.

Give the gift of adventure with a Mynydd Sleddog experience – a present that brings excitement long after Christmas Day and creates memories to last a lifetime. We have plenty of options to choose from this festive season, including experiences, vouchers, teddies and our popular Sponsor a Dog packages.
At Mynydd, our dogs are family for life. We never rehome or put dogs to sleep when they retire or become unwell — they stay with us until the rainbow bridge. Sponsoring a dog helps support their lifelong care, with 12-month options to suit all budgets, including eco-friendly, locally crafted and premium packs. It’s a meaningful way to support the dogs you love, while receiving updates and keepsakes from your sponsored dog.
